Firmware existing does not mean your OS will boot/run it just means you can try.Ĭurrently, there are no plans to offer UEFI firmware for Geminilake devices. If it's not explicitly listed as having UEFI firmware support, then it doesn't (yet) exist. UEFI Firmware support for all devices is listed on. #SYNAPTICS SMBUS TOUCHPAD NOT WORKING HP ELITEBOOK 840 G1 WINDOWS#If you're interested in future Windows support, see: If your device isn't listed, it isn't supported currently. Please be sure to read the sub documentation fully ( ) as it is the authoritative source for information on running Windows on any ChromeOS device. Greetings friend, and welcome to r/chrultrabook. I have tried building the kernel using Fedora's kernel config but it kernel panics. Also dmesg, lsmod and kernel config from Fedora. Here is Gentoo dmesg, lsmod, and kern config. This is the relared kernel config on Gentoo ~ $ grep -iE 'elan|designware|cannonlake' /usr/src/linux/.config |grep -v ~ $ elan_i2c i2c-ELAN0000:00: supply vcc not found, using dummy regulator ![]() elants_i2c i2c-ELAN0001:00: nothing at this address elants_i2c i2c-ELAN0001:00: supply vccio not found, using dummy regulator ![]() elants_i2c i2c-ELAN0001:00: supply vcc33 not found, using dummy regulator This is how the touchpad is seen from Fedora: ~ $ grep -i elan fedora/libinput -A17 I have compiled the relative kernel modules based on Fedora lsmod output, but still no go. However, it works fine under both Fedora and Ubuntu. I am assuming the issue is kernel related as it doesn't even get detected. The device info for the TouchStyk however says "Synaptics TouchStyk V2.0 on PS/2 Port 1", this may not be useful information though.I have had this HP Chromebook elite C1030 for about a week now and I am struggling to get the touchpad to work under Gentoo. I've noticed the location of the TouchPad is showing as "plugged into PS/2 mouse port" - not sure if that's normal? I don't have anything physically plugged in to the mouse port but perhaps this is not what it means (as you can tell I'm not great with IT!). After reinstalling the drivers, the TouchStyk now works fine but the TouchPad is not responsive. ![]() ![]() #SYNAPTICS SMBUS TOUCHPAD NOT WORKING HP ELITEBOOK 840 G1 DRIVER#I'm thinking it may still be a driver issue (rather than a mechanical issue with the pad itself) as after uninstalling the Synaptics software, the notebook defaulted to the generic Microsoft "HID-compliant mouse" and the touch pad was then responsive but not working correctly - the cursor moved around (a bit jerkily) but would randomly left or right click so was unusable and the pointing stick (Synaptics TouchStyk) was the same. #SYNAPTICS SMBUS TOUCHPAD NOT WORKING HP ELITEBOOK 840 G1 DRIVERS#The driver version from HP was the same one as was uninstalled so it did seem to be the correct Synaptics drivers (version 19.0.19.69, dated 16/Dec/2018). #SYNAPTICS SMBUS TOUCHPAD NOT WORKING HP ELITEBOOK 840 G1 SERIAL NUMBER#I then uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled from the HP website (after entering my serial number to make sure it was the correct driver) but the pad remains unresponsive. After looking for advice online I tried both updating the driver and then rolling back to the old driver (rebooting after each change) but it was still unresponsive. I'm not the smartest with computers but thought I'd initially try fixing the issue myself before asking for help. It is "on" in touch pad settings and enabled when I check the mouse properties. The device status is that it's "working properly" and hardware/device troubleshooting does not detect any issues. I booted it up one day about a week ago and it was not responsive. The Synaptics USBus TouchPad on my HP EliteBook 840 G3 Notebook recently stopped working.
